Simon is fascinated by geography and maps. As a flying animal who also happens to have an artistic bent, he's a natural cartographer, and has made fabulously detailed wing-drawn maps of his favorite forest paths, streams, and hidden meadows. To challenge himself, he is now working on versions of those maps that will be useful to smaller, land-bound animals. A mouse might find it difficult to interpret an owl's overhead map of the forest, so Simon has to think about what mushrooms and stumps a mouse might see as significant landmarks. In order to re-frame his view of the world, he is in the middle of a 30-day challenge in which he hops everywhere instead of flying.
